How can I make a wall mounted lcd tv look better.?

I have put my lcd tv on the wall. From the front it looks great but I do not like the fact that from the side I can see the bracket and wires. Does any one have any ideas to make a wall mounted tv look neater from the side?

1. The previous owner of my place actually knocked a hole in the wall and fitted the tv and cables into it. A tiny hole in the wall nearer the floor was opened so that the cables could poke back out and plug into the mains. He then put a large sideboard below the tv so that you couldn't see any of the cables or the hole in the wall. Very effective (he was a builder by trade tho which always helps)
2. build an MDF box and mount that around the tv
3. You can buy cable piping which is cheap. It's plastic piping with a slit so you can slide it over all the cables so you only see a single pipe. It's probably the best idea without bashing holes in walls or mounting cabinets around it.
4. Mount it in a really deep picture frame. Never seen it done, but it'll look different!
